Tyler Perry Defends His Casting Of Kim Kardashian In New Movie

Tyler Perry fans were not too happy about his choice of casting reality star Kim Kardashian in his latest project, “The Marriage Counselor.” Two weeks ago, Perry announced Kardashian had been chosen to play Ava, a co-worker of Judith (Jurnee Smollett), an Ivy League educated therapist who decides to step outside of her marriage to spice up her life. Fans of the prolific director immediately took to the message boards, denouncing Perry’s choice of someone they feel to be morally questionable. In light of Kardashian recently announcing her divorce from Kris Humphries after only 72 days of marriage, Perry’s fans are even more enraged.

After weeks of fans protesting the casting of Kardashian in “The Marriage Counselor,” Perry defended his actions in an open letter on his website. It seems as if the mind behind “Madea” believes that Kim K. is a role model to millions of her followers. Perry finds that casting her in his film would be the ideal way to bring them to see his movie.

In his letter he states: “She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about what happens in life when you make the wrong choices. Whether you’re aware of it or not, to be honest with you I wasn’t, millions of young people adore her and are following her every move. If one of those young people see this film and find the strength to live a better life and not go through what these characters went through in this movie, then we have all done what I feel I’m being led to do here. I hope you understand. I really do!”

So Perry is sticking to his guns on this one, regardless of what fans think, hoping to send a positive message? He signs off his letter with one more impactful line: “I believe that my films speak from the inside out, why wouldn’t Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God? What is wrong with that??”

Who are we to judge someone looking for forgiveness? Right?

Kim Kardashian Hires Nicole Kidman’s Acting Coach

Posted by John Mitchell On November - 15 - 2011

Kim Kardashian

This can’t be good. If you were hoping the recent public backlash against the Kardashian Klan finally meant we’d start seeing a little less of Kim and Co., think again.

Kim Kardashian, whose $10 million circus wedding and 72-day marriage were all about true love and not media attention, you guys, is currently hard at work (a sensation she’s not familiar with) on Tyler Perry’s latest sure-thing Oscar contender “The Marriage Counselor.” To make sure the devastation over the end of her marriage to Kris Humphries wouldn’t seep into her performance in Madia’s Perry’s flick, Kardashian is working with Susan Batson, the acting coach thanked by Nicole Kidman during her Oscar acceptance speech, who has also worked with Oscar winners Juliette Binoche, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Connelly.

Take that in for a second.

Now, we know what you’re thinking – Batson is doing it for the money. Not so … according to the coach herself, who told New York Magazine, “If you know who I said, ‘Don’t bother sending’ to agents … You have to have talent. Otherwise, I really can’t work with you.”

You know what, Batson might just be on to something. I mean, we’ve long awarded Kim a healthy three stars for her role as Kim Kardashian on the not-at-all scripted “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” so who knows, maybe this has just been a warm-up lap before she takes on Lady MacBeth.

Do you think Kim Kardashian is a natural acting talent, as coach to the stars Susan Baston seems to imply? Let us know in the comments.

Michael Buble Joins Mariah Carey, Others Who Are Tired Of Kim Kardashian

Posted by Jocelyn Vena On November - 14 - 2011

Sure, Kim Kardashian has her celebrity supporters (we’re looking you Trina and Lala), but there also seems to be a growing number of celebrity folk who are a bit tired of all the hoopla around Kim and her split from short-lived hubby Kris Humphries.

Talk show hosts Chelsea Handler and Wendy Williams seem to either want to distance themselves from Kim or don’t get why Kim ran away from addressing the split head on in the first place. In the case of Mariah Carey, she mistakenly took a jab at Kim when she commented on how short some Hollywood marriages last.

According to a New York Post report out today, at a show in the Big Apple last week, pop crooner Michael Buble had some fiery words for the reality starlet. “Ladies and gentleman, I have a very special guest. Please welcome Kim Kardashian [to the stage],” Buble reportedly told the crowd at the P.C. Richard & Son Theater. Of course, Kim wasn’t there, and Buble had this juicy nugget to add: “Nah, just [bleeping] with you! That bitch isn’t coming on my stage.”

Wowzer. For all the angst he had for the former Mrs. Humphries, he seemed to only have the nicest stuff to say about the basketball player. Before launching into Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” he added, “She hurt him, she hurt him! I wish she had hurt me!”

What do you think of Michael Buble’s comment? Tell us in the comments below!

Kourtney And Khloe Kardashian Laughing Over ‘SNL’ Divorce Skit

Posted by MTV News On November - 8 - 2011

“Saturday Night Live’s” ‘Kim’s Fairytale Divorce’ skit pulled no punches in depicting the reality TV circus that follows Klan Kardashian everywhere.

While Kim, Kris and Bruce Jenner were the biggest targets in the skit — Bruce’s stretched face can’t produce tears anymore so someone uses eyedrops — Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian were also targets.

So how would the sisters respond to the clip skewering the family that films together? With plenty of laughter and, of course, some tweets to show it all off.

“Ha! I just saw the SNL skit they did and I could not stop laughing…. LOL,” tweeted Khloe Kardashian.

Kourtney took it one step further. While retweeting her sister, she added “I peed! The @KrisJenner was classic.”

The retweet to Kris didn’t inspire any typing. Mom Kardashian has been quiet, focusing her 140 characters to support son Robert on his “Dancing With the Stars” run.

For those few of you who missed the fun on “SNL,” we offer you one of the most spot-on skits in recent memory:
