Jennifer Lopez Is Having Trouble Balancing Her Revitalized Career and Her Twins (But We Bet All The Money She’s Earning Helps)

Jennifer Lopez

By Zachary Swickey

Jennifer Lopez may be a newly single cougar on the prowl – word on the street is that her new lover is half her age – and the girl can still move as she clearly showed at this weekend’s American Music Awards. However, the sultry singer is learning that parenting alone is a difficult endeavor.

“I get tired sometimes, but to be quite honest, I love what I do,” she said in an interview with E! News. “I have a lot going on with the kids and everything, but you know, anytime I get tired or feel overwhelmed, I go, ‘This is good. I’m alive. It’s okay. I’m lucky.’” It also sounds like the mother of twins can be hard on herself at the end of a long day, saying, “Anytime I get any feeling that feels like ‘this is scary, this is too much,’ I’m like, ‘Don’t be so weak,’” she admits.

We wouldn’t worry about J.Lo too much though, considering the army of nannies she can likely afford. Her stint as a judge on “American Idol” has revitalized the singer’s career in a huge way and provided many new opportunities despite her marital setback. Admittedly, having a cute set of twins doesn’t hurt in the PR department these days either.

Without the “AI” gig, it’s doubtful we’d be seeing Jenny from the Block shaking it on the AMAs, a performance that curiously played out like a live commercial for Fiat as the singer clearly indulged in a little promotion for the car brand. (Also, anyone else notice Lopez donning Brit’s outfit from the “Toxic” video?) She reportedly made around seven figures just for shaking her thing in, on and around the sporty ride as part of her months-long “fully integrated campaign” with the Italian company.

Lopez will return to “American Idol” in January for its eleventh season – the show’s second without new-to-Twitter Simon Cowell.

Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald Are Latest Couple To Make Beautiful Music Together

Posted by MTV News On November - 15 - 2011

Paul M and Nikki Reed

Some celebrity couples want to do everything together. Even if it’s not the thing they’re best known for.

But with the glow of their recent wedding still shining bright, “Twilight” actress Nikki Reed and former “American Idol” contestant Paul McDonald have committed their love to plastic courtesy of their first joint single, “Now That I Found You.”

The twangy ballad, with music by McDonald and lyrics by Reed, is, predictably, about finding true love in the eyes of your beloved. The pair’s vocals don’t exactly find the perfect mix, as McDonald’s raspy, Rod Stewart drawl overpowers Reed’s generic voice, employed mostly as musical wallpaper. Reed said McDonald is encouraging her to pursue music in a more serious way, so the song may be just the first of many future collaborations.

Who knows if these two will become the next Sonny and Cher or the modern Don Johnson and Barbra Streisand. But whatever the future holds, they can feel confident that plenty of other musical couples have their back.

The hook-up that might have ended all other couple collaborations is actually the one that never happened. Britney Spears and former N’SYNC member Justin Timberlake were at the peak of their uber-pop glory in the early 2000s, but, sadly, the dynamic duo never consummated the relationship in the studio. Other pop tarts did get busy in the studio, including onetime “Newlyweds” Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey on her single, “Where You Are,” and another ex-pair, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, hooked up on his tune, “No Me Ames.”

While some couples make beautiful music together, such as Mates of State and late Beatles John Lennon and Yoko Ono, the only good that came of the bed-hopping mess that was 1970s powerhouse Fleetwood Mac were such landmark albums as Rumors.

Indie rock, however, is lousy with real-life couple duets, from the recently split Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, to current hipster faves Nathan Williams of Wavves and Best Coast singer Bethany Cosentino, who just released their collaborative track, “Nodding Off.”

Hip-hop has also produced some classic love games, including the Notorious B.I.G.’s “You’re Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You),” which features a chorus from his wife, Faith Evans. And while former Fugees band mates and one-time lovers Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean were able to record songs such as “Fu Gee La” together before their relationship and band split, expectant parents Jay-Z and Beyonce are still going strong and, well, “Crazy in Love.”

Behind The Scenes At Jennifer Lopez’s Glamour Cover Shoot

Posted by MTV News On October - 28 - 2011

By Christina Garibaldi

I don’t think anyone would disagree that Jennifer Lopez has not had a HUGE year. In January, the singer took over one of the judges seats on “American Idol,” scored a hit single with “On the Floor” and released her album Love? in May. Yet, unfortunately for J.Lo it wasn’t all good – in July she ended her seven-year marriage to Marc Anthony.

But it seems Jennifer got an early holiday gift because she is on the cover of the December issue of Glamour‘s annual Women of the Year issue! She is being honored as an “All-Star Woman” for her numerous achievements this year in television, music, fashion and charity (the list goes on!).

Check the behind-the-scenes video of the cover shoot:

Jennifer was interviewed by her “Monster-In-Law” costar Jane Fonda for the magazine, and talked openly about what she’s learned about love and relationships over this past year. Read on for more.

“I think I’ve finally learned the biggest lesson of all: You’ve got to love yourself first,” she said. “You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with someone else. You’ve got to value yourself and know that you’re worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can’t really have a healthy relationship.”

So does that mean J.Lo is ready to date again? Possibly, but this time she plans to try to keep her love life out of the tabloids. (Good luck!)

“I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye,” Lopez says. “You know the media — they want to rush everything.”

Now Jennifer isn’t the only girl Glamour is honoring – 10 other lucky ladies will be featured in the Women of the Year issue, which hits newsstands November 1.

Jennifer Lopez Cries In Concert: A Timeline of Her Loves

Posted by Jocelyn Vena On October - 24 - 2011

Over the weekend, Jennifer Lopez took the stage at Mohegan Sun’s 15th anniversary celebration in Connecticut and paid homage to her many past loves in a tear-filled performance. During her tracks “If You Had My Love” and “Until It Beats No More” the singer brought a number of dancers on stage that resembled her and the men she’s been connected to over the years. “I took a trip down memory lane” she told the room, before showing a photo of her twins, adding, “There’s love – and then there’s love.”

Well before there was that kind of “love,” there was a heck of a lot of other kinds of “love.” So we thought we’d take a look back at some of JLo’s greatest beaus.

Ojani Noa
Although noticeably absent from her ode to all things heartbreak, Noa was married to the superstar from 1997-98. Things didn’t end well for the pair as he threatened to publish a tell-all book about their time together. He then wanted to release sexy footage of the star. Neither have seen the light of day, much to J.Lo’s credit.

Diddy
Shortly after her break-up with Noa, she began seeing the rap mogul. The two super-stylish, super-glam entertainers began a whirlwind romance that certainly wasn’t short on drama, culminating in a big blowout at a Manhattan club. The dramz was too much for Jenny From the Block and she left the rapper in the dust.

Chris Judd
She met the back-up dancer on the set of the video for “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and they married in September 2001. Apparently love does cost something, as Lopez began seeing her “Gigli” co-star Ben Affleck during the brief marriage. Judd and J.Lo split in 2002.

Ben Affleck
Bennifer took over the tabloids and became the It couple to end all It couples. The two appeared in two flicks together, a music video and at countless red carpet premieres. They eventually got engaged in 2002 and hours before they were supposed to say “I Do” in 2003, the wedding was called off. Months later, so was their entire relationship.

Marc Anthony
Longtime friends and former flames Jen and Marc Anthony decided to hook up for real after she split from Ben. They married in 2004, right after Marc divorced from his first wife. Two kids and seven years of marriage later, the two announced their divorce earlier this year. Perhaps there’s some truth to all that talk of the seven-year itch.

‘American Idol’ Season 11 Promo Debuts, Brings The Nice

Posted by Gil Kaufman On October - 24 - 2011

They’re not even on at the same time of year, but the arms race between “American Idol” and Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” continued on Sunday night when Fox (which airs both shows) unwrapped the first commercial for season 11 of “Idol.”

The show doesn’t return to air until January 22, but three months out producers seem to be sticking with the positive people vibe they explored last year with a revamped judging panel that included newbies Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. For the first time since season seven, the entire panel has returned intact, with veteran old-schooler Randy Jackson getting some serious love as the first face you see in the new ad.

Strutting through a tree-lined park lane, Jackson is surrounded by budding singers, and, despite some ribbing from early “Factor” promos that dinged “Idol” for its shiny, happy attitude, all seems well in “Idol”-ville. The first glimpse of Lopez is of her designer shoes, as the camera pans out and we see more freshly-scrubbed faces singing and busting moves on an Pleasantburg, U.S.A. Hollywood set.

The poppy, acoustic soundtrack (sample lyric, “anything is possible”), soars into lite rock territory when Tyler spots a garage band (in a literal, cul-de-sac garage!) jamming out as he waves them to join his legion of primary color t-shirt-wearing minions. Check the promo out, after the jump!

Decked out in a skinny suit, host Ryan Seacrest has a smile so wide it inspires a Benetton ad-worth of wannabes to toss their aprons aside and quit their jobs for a chance at potential “Idol” fame (or infamy). The four flash mobs come together at the end, with Seacrest turning to the polite horde and asking them, “Are you ready?” as the words “the incredible journey begins” flash on the screen.

Are you excited for the next season of “Idol?”
