Above & Beyond pres The Group Therapy Stages – Super8 & Tab Skype Interview

Posted by Anjunabeats On August - 11 - 2011

This summer Above & Beyond are hosting a series of stages across some of the biggest electronic dance music festivals Europe has to offer – celebrating the release of their second artist album “Group Therapy”. To get you in the mood we have caught up with some of the artists who will be performing on the Group Therapy Stages to find out more about what they will be playing and what you can expect to hear from them.

Firmly established as Anjunabeats best selling artists behind Above & Beyond, Super8 & Tab rose to the AAA List of the trance scene with last year’s “Empire” album. An 11 track journey that ranged from reflective downtempo moments to peak-time anthems, “Empire” left Mixmag “blown away on first listen” thanks to its diverse offerings and hit top 10 in the US and Finnish Dance Charts – completing Super8 & Tab’s transition from innovative trance architects to accomplished album artists.

In the 12 months since, Super8 & Tab’s star has continued to rise further still – becoming the highest ranked Finnish DJs in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll. Still topping the Beatport trance chart as standard, the Finnish duo now broadcast their SuperTab Radio show on 79 FM stations worldwide and have remixed everything from Above & Beyond’s classic “Can’t Sleep” (which features in this video) to Creep’s single “Days”, which featured the haunting vocals of The xx’s Romy Madley Croft.

If you didn’t already see them at Tomorrowland, Global Gathering, or Dance Valley can catch Super8 & Tab on Above & Beyond Group Therapy Stage at SW4. Click HERE for tickets.

Above & Beyond feat. Zoë Johnston "You Got To Go" – Release announcement and CD pre-order

Posted by Anjunabeats On August - 4 - 2011

Featuring the distinctive vocals of Zoë Johnston, “You Got To Go” is the latest single to be taken from Above & Beyond’s critically acclaimed second artist album “Group Therapy” – described by Mixmag as “the biggest artist album of the year”.

Following in the footsteps of “Sun & Moon” and “Thing Called Love”, the optimistic “You Got To Go” is a song about seizing the moment and taking control of the opportunities in front of you.

Inspired by Kyau & Albert’s energised club remix of the original album version, the A&B vs. K&A Radio Edit combines the melodic riff-driven energy of the Kyau & Albert remix with a more radio-focused approach – capturing the song’s beauty and orchestral touches perfectly.

The limited edition CD single also includes a brand new club mix from Above & Beyond themselves, the high-energy Kyau & Albert remix, two contrasting remixes from the legendary MJ Cole and an organic tech-house version from Dusky aka Solarity. Above & Beyond feat. Zoë Johnston “You Got To Go” will be released on Anjunabeats on 18th September.

Pre-order the CD single from Anjunastore HERE.

Above & Beyond pres The Group Therapy Stages – Jaytech Skype Interview

Posted by Anjunabeats On August - 4 - 2011

This summer Above & Beyond are hosting a series of stages across some of the biggest electronic dance music festivals Europe has to offer – celebrating the release of their second artist album “Group Therapy”. To get you in the mood we have caught up with some of the artists who will be performing on the Group Therapy Stages to find out more about what they will be playing and what you can expect to hear from them.

This interview is with Jaytech, the long chosen, warm-up DJ of choice for Above & Beyond, who is now taking off as a headline DJ in his own right. Chosen to headline the Anjunadeep room for the label’s flagship party at the Miami WMC, he remains the number one headline DJ within the core Anjunadeep family.

Despite his relative youth, Jaytech’s prodigious creativity and prolific work rate (he started producing at just 14 and released his first track at 16) have seen him rise up as the most consistent artist on the popular Anjunadeep imprint — even releasing the label’s first full artist album through 2008′s “Everything Is Ok” (“Lush, melodic and soaked in electronic groove – a crossover gem” **** DJ Magazine), and hitting number one in the iTunes dance chart with his “Anjunadeep: 02″ mix compilation in 2010. (“Compilation of the month **** Mixmag.) February 2011 saw the release of Jaytech’s most promising mix work to date, “Anjunadeep: 03″.

Proof of his rising stock behind the turntables, a packed DJ diary has recently taken in dates at Ibiza’s Amnesia, London’s Brixton Academy and Japan’s world-famous Womb. In the past year he has also traveled the vast corners of his Australian homeland with the Future Music Festival and taken his uplifting and perfectly paced sound on tour in America — more recently with Above & Beyond for their TATW350 event in Los Angeles, where his set was broadcast live across the globe to a listen-in audience of 30 million. Click HERE to watch the interview.

You can catch Jaytech on Above & Beyond Group Therapy Stages at Dance Valley, Trance Mission and SW4. Click HERE for tickets.

Above & Beyond – Australia DJ Competition (Australian residents only)

Posted by Anjunabeats On July - 29 - 2011

Above & Beyond and inthemix.com.au have teamed up to offer 5 aspiring DJs the chance to play the opening set on their upcoming Australia tour this September. Put together by local promoters, the Totem Onelove Group and Hardware Corporation, Above & Beyond’s Australian Group Therapy Album tour will take in dates in Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. This string of headline shows will represent Above & Beyond’s only Australia dates of 2011, and their first tour there since February of last year. What’s perhaps even more exciting is YOU could be opening the show! Do you have what it takes to play alongside the likes of Mat Zo, Jaytech and Above & Beyond?

To enter you need to create a 30-minute mix and upload it through the competition page at inthemix.com.au/competitions. You have until August 25th, 2011, to complete and upload your mix. The best in each state will be selected from all that enter, with finalists featured online through ITM-FM for public scrutiny. Then, based on a combination of public feedback and Above & Beyond’s own personal opinion, the winning five DJs will be selected and given the reward any up-and-comer would sell their left leg to win!

If you’re keen to enter be sure to give your mix a lot of thought. Think about who you’re warming up for (you’ll be on before Jaytech and another local DJ), and think of when in the night you’ll be playing (early on, as doors open). A banging peak-time set isn’t going to win you this competition; we’re looking for something deep and melodic, and definitely below the 128 bpm mark. Show restraint, progression and consideration, and prove to us you can get the room ready for the party that’s on the horizon! CLICK HERE to enter.

RULES: The competition starts July 22nd and ends on August 19 11.45pm. A winner will be chosen from every state, if a winner cannot be chosen from the state, winners from other states will be offered the prize. The prize does not include travel or accommodation. Submissions must include a DJ name, full name as per state ID, contact number and email address. Entry is limited to Australian residents only. Any sets submitted which are over 31 minutes in length will be automatically disqualified. The actual duration of the set and time at the event will be the decision of Above & Beyond, Totem Onelove Group and Hardware.
