There's no question that Reese Witherspoon has had a wide-ranging and accomplished movie career, and at Sunday's 2011 MTV Movie Awards, the Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning actress will add one more award to her already-crowded mantle. Witherspoon will receive this year's Generation Award, previously bestowed upon superstars like Adam Sandler and last year's recipient Sandra Bullock.

"Reese Witherspoon is one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of her time," MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement. "Our viewers admire her for taking risks and for the breathtaking range of her roles. She fearlessly moves between dramas and comedies and always leaves everyone guessing what she'll do next. We are thrilled to honor Reese with this year's 'MTV Generation Award.' "

With a résumé already filled with comedies like "Legally Blonde" and "Election" and more serious roles in films like "Walk the Line," "Cruel Intentions," "Pleasantville" and "Water for Elephants," the actress has proven that there's no role she can't handle. Her Southern charm and girl-next-door looks have enchanted audiences during her two-decades-long career, going from child star to full-fledged A-lister. She's starred alongside everyone from Robert Pattinson, Joaquin Phoenix, Ryan Phillippe, Jake Gyllenhaal, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson, as well as Tobey Maguire and Vince Vaughn, to name just a few.

This certainly isn't Witherspoon's first Golden Popcorn. She previously won Best Comedic Performance in 2002 for "Legally Blonde" and was nominated for Best Female Performance, Best Dressed and Best Line for her star-making turn as Elle Woods. In 2003, she was nominated for Best Female Performance for "Sweet Home Alabama" and was up for Best Performance for "Walk the Line" back in 2006.

The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with "SNL" actor Jason Sudeikis set to host the show, taking place in Universal City, California, at the Gibson Amphitheatre.

Eminem On Odd Future: ‘The Dudes Can Rhyme’

Posted by MTV News On June - 1 - 2011

"It feels like they're pushing boundaries and buttons," Eminem tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Eminem

Eminem has been known to cause a stir or two. From rapping about killing his daughter's mother on " '97 Bonnie & Clyde" to being deemed homophobic by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Slim Shady has courted his share of controversy over the years. Lately, L.A. collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All and their profanity-flinging frontman, Tyler, the Creator, have been drawing comparisons to Marshall, but what does Slim think of OFWGKTA?

"I think that from the stuff that I've heard — I haven't heard a lot from them, I still have to go check out everything that they're doing — but I've heard enough to know that it feels like they're pushing boundaries and buttons, and that's definitely one of the things that I'm familiar with, especially when I first came out," Eminem told Sway on the set of Bad Meets Evil's "Fast Lane" video in Detroit. "I love it, I love the fact that they're doing that. And the dudes can rhyme."

Eminem's Bad Meets Evil partner Royce Da 5'9" is a fan as well, particularly of OF's R&B portion. "I'm a big Frank Ocean fan," he said. "I'm feelin' the whole group. I'm with Em, though — I haven't heard enough of them. I heard more Frank Ocean, for some reason. It seems like he's standing out, for some reason."

When in his creative zone, as he has been lately, Em finds it hard to keep up with rap's newcomers. "If somebody has got a buzz and somebody is making noise, I'll go check 'em out. Sometimes I'm late getting to the party, sometimes I'm right on top of it as it's happening. It's hard, I think, when you're creating music and you're in the lab like me and him are a lot."

Official ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Trailer Hits Web

Posted by MTV News On June - 1 - 2011

The green-band trailer differs little from the leaked version that made the rounds over the weekend.

With a little more than six months to go until its theatrical release, the English-language adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has made its first official mark on American shores.

The official green-band trailer for "Dragon Tattoo," directed by "The Social Network" filmmaker David Fincher, has found its way online several days after an allegedly unauthorized red-band trailer circulated around the Net. The differences between the official trailer and the leaked red-band version (which has officially been taken off of YouTube, Sony representatives told The Hollywood Reporter) are few and far between, save for some scenes featuring nudity and brief glimpses of explicit violence.

In other words, this trailer is just as fantastic as the previously seen teaser. Indeed, while the "Dragon Tattoo" trailer's message isn't quite as bloody or vulgar as the one that protagonist Lisbeth Salander etches into the stomach of an unsuspecting rapist, it's clear that Fincher and his team — including Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who recruited Karen O for the Led Zeppelin cover that drives this clip — have gone all in on the dark and gritty tone that this story is best known for.

Fincher's adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is based on late Swedish author Stieg Larsson's best-selling crime novel about Mikhail Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), a crusading journalist facing jail time after losing a libel case involving major accusations about a fantastically wealthy and notoriously corrupt industrialist. But Blomkvist gets a second chance at redemption when reclusive billionaire Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) recruits the journalist to uncover the truth about his granddaughter's sudden disappearance four decades ago. In return for solving the mystery, Henrik promises to provide Blomkvist with all the evidence he needs to clear his name and depower the crooked millionaire once and for all.

But Blomkvist isn't alone in his quest; he's aided by the introverted and uniquely gifted Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), the punk-rock computer hacker who finds herself inexplicably drawn to Blomkvist and his case. But even with the girl with the dragon tattoo at his side, perhaps the disgraced journalist has bitten off more than he can chew as the horrible truth surrounding Harriet Vanger's disappearance slowly comes to light.

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" lands in theaters on December 21, 2011.
