TATW350 Interview with Cosmic Gate and Super8 & Tab

Posted by Anjunabeats On December - 2 - 2010

Ahead of the sold out Above & Beyond TATW350 show at the LA Palladium on Dec 10, we catch up with two of the acts also performing on the night, Cosmic Gate & Super8 & Tab.

TATW350 is a huge landmark for both Above & Beyond and their radio show. What has been your biggest achievement of 2010?

Cosmic Gate: Sure, it was our Remix of the Avatar movies' title track " I See Sou", the only official Remix receiving permission by Mr. Horner
Super8 & Tab: It has to be our debut artist album 'Empire' and the album launch event at Ministry of Sound in London! We finally got it the album out and it feels great! And huge congratz to Above & Beyond for reaching 350.

Which record has stayed in your DJ sets the longest this year?

Cosmic Gate: Maybe it was the Rank 1 Remix of Mat Zo's "24 Hours", great tune!
Super8 & Tab: Markus Schulz feat Justine Suissa "Perception" (Super8 & Tab Remix)

If money was no object and you were holding your own dream event, who would play and where would it be?

Cosmic Gate: Interesting question, we could imagine renting a A380, lower deck to party, upper deck to chill, bring a lot of friends and cruise to Hawaii!
Super8 & Tab: Maldives with all our friends! There we would also be spinning records like Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, Mat Zo, Jaytech, Sven Väth, Ritchie Hawtin, Orkidea... We could easily spend few weeks there :)

What has been the craziest thing that has happened to you on your DJ travels this year?

Cosmic Gate: The whole year we had was crazy, the funniest for sure was bumping into a huge guy while checking in, who in the end showed to be Stevie Wonders body guard, we love LAX!!!
Super8 & Tab: Someone stole Tabs jacket from DJ booth

Do you have any special talents outside of music?

Cosmic Gate: Playing football!
Tab: Snowboarding
Super8 : Snooring in harmonies and sailing.

What's the best piece of advice that you've been given?

Cosmic Gate: Dont believe the hype!!!
Super8 & Tab: Try to sleep everytime you can when traveling

Catch Cosmic Gate & Super8 & Tab at TATW350 @ Palladium, LA on Dec 10th or listen to the show live from 9pm PST / 12am EST. http://www.TATW350.com

10 Years of Anjunabeats – Kyau & Albert Interview

Posted by Anjunabeats On December - 1 - 2010

On Friday 3rd December, Anjunabeats will be celebrating a decade of ground-breaking releases with a '10 Years Of Anjunabeats' Xmas party at The Gallery @ Ministry Of Sound in London - uniting some of the best talent from both Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep. A limited supply of £10 discount tickets are available here: http://bit.ly/Anjuna10Years. Below is an exclusive interview with Kyau & Albert to catch up before the event:

Hello guys, have you had a nice day?

Yes, spent most of the time in the studio...

First up it's Anjunabeats 10th birthday. What do you think their recipe for success has been?

Constantly high class releases of forward thinking trance, combined with great label management. Also it was a visionary idea of setting up the Anjunadeep sub-label, which rounded off the Anjunabeats brand.

Favourite track on the label in this time?

Alt +F4 - Alt +F4.

What have you been up to musically since we last saw you in September?

Just finished a remix for Armin van Buuren and now working on the next Kyau & Albert single, which we plan to release ASAP.

Latest single 'Painkillers' is a slight deviation from your normal euphoric offerings. What was the inspiration behind this track – and which software was used for production?

We had this demo laying around and everybody loved the vocal hook. With the production, we wanted to try something different with the guitars and so on. In the end it took a while to produce. We have used Cubase since 1993. No joke!

Why is The Gallery perfect for celebrating this special anniversary occasion?

The Gallery is legendary. Anjunabeats too!

Best ever moment at an Anjuna gig?

Opening for Above & Beyond at 'Euphonic meets Anjunbeats' in Berlin this year.

What did you do on your 10th birthday?

Too long a time ago! So honestly have no real memory. I think with family and school friends, eating cakes.

Early plans for 2011?

DJing of course and working on new material, which might surprise some!

Finally, an Anjuna track name that best describes your forthcoming set?

Great question by the way! We will go with 'Made Of Sun.'
